Creating a DMARC record in DirectAdmin
In DirectAdmin you can easily create a _dmarc record. We recommend that everyone does this, to make sure that all emails you send are delivered properly to the recipient.
First go to DirectAdmin. Not sure how to get there? Click here
- Click 'DNS Management'

- Then choose 'Add Record'
- In the drop-down menu under 'Record Type', choose 'TXT'
- Under 'TXT Record Type', choose 'DMARC'
- You can then set up the DMARC record exactly as you want. Do you only want the DMARC record to be present so that you meet the latest requirements? Then you can leave it as it is filled in by default, with 'Domain Policy Type' set to 'None'. In that case the DMARC record effectively does nothing.
We recommend setting 'Domain Policy Type' to 'Reject'. This ensures that an email sent from your domain via a server that is not listed in the SPF record never reaches the recipient, which prevents spoofing, for example.
Please note: if you have selected 'Reject' as the policy, it is extra important that your SPF record is up to date. If you want to send email from a server other than ours, that server must be added to the SPF record.
You can also enter an email address under 'Aggregate Email (RUA)' at which you would like to receive DMARC reports, but this is optional.
