Chapter 15 · 15.26
Making a presentation loop continuously (trade fair, waiting room, shop window)
A screen in a shop, waiting room or at a trade fair stand needs to show the slides on its own all day, without anyone clicking. To do this, you set up two things: each slide advances automatically, and the presentation starts again at the end.
Step 1: make each slide advance automatically
- Go to the Transitions tab.
- Choose a transition if you like, for example fade.
- Tick Delay and enter the number of seconds a slide stays on screen, for example 8.
- Click Apply to all slides.
Step 2: turn on repeat
- Go to the Home tab and click the arrow next to the slideshow button.
- Choose Show settings.
- Tick Loop continuously until 'Esc' is pressed and click OK.
Step 3: start
Choose Show from Beginning. The presentation now runs endlessly. To stop it, press Esc.
Pitfalls
- Animations set to start "on click" will wait for a click. On the Animation tab, under Start, choose After previous.
- Turn off the screensaver and sleep mode on the computer, otherwise the screen will go black after a while.
- The presentation runs in the browser, so it needs an internet connection to start. If the connection drops at the trade fair, things can go wrong. In that case, download the presentation as a pptx and play it with the Nextcloud Office program on the computer (download via https://www.weboke.nl/download).
